Winter Solstice Writing Ritual
Share
The Earth communicates with the Sun in cycles, the turning points of which are the equinoxes and solstices. This is nature's "New Year" for each new season. As the Sun enters the sign of Capricorn on December 21, we celebrate the winter solstice. Stop, feel, give thanks, see the results of the path traveled since the autumn equinox, the most important accents since the summer solstice. Listen to the waves of energies of the coming stage.
At a time when the Earth experiences its longest nights of the year, when we have the most hours of darkness, we still have hope and the unquenchable knowledge that the light and warmth of the Sun are returning. At the lowest point of this cycle, nature invites us to stop, listen, feel the meaning of the journey we have taken, and gather strength for the next stage of the journey.
So there is no better time than NOW to create a personal celebration, ritual, meditation, or any other way to review the path of the past year and illuminate the journey of the coming year with your inner gaze. After all, where attention goes, there is energy.
The " Solstice Writing Ritual " is especially suitable for this day.
To perform the ritual, you will need a beautiful notebook or notebook in which you can write down your insights, dreams and wishes from the past year. Choose an elegant pen, burn your favorite incense and light a few candles. The light of fire symbolizes the sun, energy, growth, and therefore is especially important for this ritual. If you have one, take the crystals that resonate most at that time. Create a festive place for your ritual, so that it will be a special moment for the unfolding of your inner world. Spend a few minutes focusing on your inner space, breathing deeply and exhaling anxiety and tension so that your body relaxes and your mind calms down. When you feel calm, start the solstice practice. Review last year's work calendar or diary entries, photos on your phone or notes. Think about what your year was like, review all the events in your mind, like a movie.
You can write the text in separate paragraphs or as a continuous story. Choose which style is closer and more acceptable to you. It is advisable to write as if you were addressing another person (you). See yourself as if from the side, from a higher perspective.
1) Description of 2024. First, describe the main events of the year, experiences, feelings, (non)achievements, travels, challenges, results, lessons, etc. As if you were putting all the events of the year on one line.
2) 2024. Reflection . After each event (or eventually after all of them), evaluate what this event gave, what character trait it strengthened, what it healed, how and with what else it is connected, what its meaning is in the context of your whole life, etc. Perhaps you will discover how your attitude towards one or another thing has changed over the years. Or what seemed impossible then, sounds self-evident today.
3) Gratitude for 2024. Just keep expressing gratitude in text. Don't miss even the smallest things. You can write in bullet points or just as a letter. The most important thing here is honesty: not feeling gratitude is just as normal as feeling it. I write the truth, as it is now, as I feel inside.
4) Vision, plans, dreams, wishes for yourself for 2025. Allow yourself to look into the future and envision, feel the vision of the coming year. Write down what you would like to achieve, fulfill, or overcome. Using your imagination and whatever words come to mind, name the coming year – it can sound like the title of a book or movie. At the end, be sure to write a wish for yourself
The annual reflection is best done each year during the winter solstice, the last full moon of the year, the first new moon or full moon of the New Year, or through an intuitively recognized personal calling to do so at another significant moment.
Happy Holidays of the Return of the Sun!
