Full Moon in Pisces. Lunar Eclipse.

A little "technical" about eclipses

Solar eclipses only occur during new moons, and lunar eclipses only during full moons. But why don't we get eclipses every new moon and every full moon? Eclipses happen every six months. Half-jokingly, so that we have time to recover and integrate the effects of eclipses into our lives.

The Moon orbits the Earth in an elliptical orbit. The Moon's orbit around the Earth does not coincide with the Earth's orbit around the Sun and is tilted by about five degrees. Therefore, as we normally see it from Earth, the Moon passes slightly above or below the Sun. The points where the Moon's orbit intersects the plane of the ecliptic are called the lunar nodes. The North Node of the Moon is the point closest to the North Pole, and the South Node is the point closest to the South Pole. The Moon returns to the same point in its orbit in 27.212220 days. It is when the Moon is close to the nodes of its orbit that lunar or solar eclipses occur.

Eclipses occur when the Sun, Moon, and Earth line up exactly in one line, casting a shadow across the Earth's surface. During a lunar eclipse, the Earth is between the Sun and the Moon (the Moon is in the Earth's shadow). Incidentally, if we were on the Moon at that time, we would see the Earth eclipse the Sun. During a solar eclipse, the Moon is between the Sun and the Earth (the Earth is in the Moon's shadow). From Earth, we see the Moon eclipse (block) the Sun.

There is another "gem" of cosmic chance (or perhaps cosmic consciousness) that determines the possibility of eclipses. These are the relative sizes of the Sun and the Moon. The Sun is about 400 times larger than the Moon, but also 400 times farther away than the Moon. Therefore, we see them in the sky as almost the same size, which is why these celestial bodies can cover each other during eclipses.

It is true that the Moon's orbit is not circular, but elliptical, so it appears smaller in the sky when it is at its furthest point in its orbit. So, if a solar eclipse occurs when the Moon is closest to the node, which is the farthest from Earth, the Moon does not completely cover the Sun, but what is called an annular solar eclipse occurs.

A little "technical" about astrological cycles

Did you know that eclipses "walk" in pairs and in certain cycles? The relative positions of the Sun, the Moon and its orbital nodes and the order of eclipses in the celestial sphere repeat with the same period, which is called a sar. The duration of a sar is equal to 6585.33 mean solar days (i.e. over 18 years). During one sar, we experience an average of 71 eclipses: 43 solar and 28 lunar. In the same places on Earth, eclipses repeat identically after 3 sars.

So, eclipses occur when the points of the Moon's orbit are "activated" - the North or South Nodes of the Moon. In astrology, the South Node of the Moon is also called the Descending Node , the karmic planet Ketu or the dragon's tail. The North Node of the Moon is also called the Ascending Node , the karmic planet Rahu or the dragon's head. The North and South Nodes of the Moon in astrology are associated with fate, karma, the achievements or tasks brought, the lessons that souls came to learn.

The Moon touches these points about four to six times a year, so we have at least 4 eclipses a year. They always occur in pairs or groups of Zodiacs: several times in a row on the same Zodiac axis (in the signs of the Zodiacs located opposite each other). This way, the energy of the impact of eclipses is generated more, the necessary effects unfold and new directions are perceived, the law of cause and effect is better mastered, a certain catalyst of evolution is triggered. For example, during an eclipse at the southern (descending) node of the Moon, we complete something, say goodbye, lose something, then during an eclipse at the northern (rising) node of the Moon, we start something, initiate something.

The lunar nodes "pass" through one zodiac sign in about 18 months. Their cycle is about 18.5 years. During this period, they go around the entire zodiac mandala. The north and south nodes are always in opposite zodiac signs (standing opposite each other). In order to understand the personal or collective meaning of the lunar nodes, we evaluate both opposite signs, because the interaction and influence of both of them are inseparable.

So, the eclipse of September 18, 2024, again begins a cycle related to the axis of the signs of Pisces and Virgo. True, the eclipses of October 2, 2024 and March 3, 2025 will be the last from the axis of the Zodiacs of Aries and Libra, like “final chords” (or, perhaps, “preludes”?). However, the upcoming eclipses of 2025–2027 will take place on the axis of the signs of Pisces and Virgo, deepening or expanding the symbolic themes of these Zodiacs.

For those who love details and analysis, here is some data for independent study of your personal history. A review of the previous events of this eclipse axis period below can reveal what we will have to work with in the coming year (what is still unresolved or unfinished, or what needs to be started). True, about 9-10 years ago, eclipses occurred near the North Node of the Moon in Virgo. Now the North Node of the Moon is in Pisces, as in 2006-2008, so even if the situations or stories are similar, their consequences may be completely different.

What does all this “technology” mean in human terms?

The North Node of the Moon indicates the evolutionary tasks of souls, the collective direction of development. This is the direction of development of the karmic path from the point of view of the laws of the Universe. According to the position of the North Node of the Moon in the Zodiac sign, we see what needs to be learned in a given period, what needs to be done, experienced, what qualities have been developed, etc. And vice versa, the South Node of the Moon indicates what we have already had to learn, shows strengths or weaknesses, the consequences of past decisions, actions or agreements.

The Pisces-Virgo Zodiac axis emphasizes the relationship between practicality and spirituality, the challenges of control and surrender to a higher power, the coarseness of matter and the subtlety of spirit. Structure and chaos. The energy of the Virgo sign is earthly, organized, systematized, petty, everyday, practical. The energy of Pisces is a boundless and boundless ocean, visions and creation, the magic of alchemy, mysticism, cosmic consciousness, deep spirituality, unconditional love and compassion. The symbolic meanings of the signs opposite each other in the astrological mandala are always very different and opposite. However, the great wisdom and secret of the axis is the connection, or the midpoint of the connection. The balance of the two energies opens up new stages of evolution.

So, since the North Node of the Moon is now traveling through the sign of Pisces, we will first learn spirituality, but we will also need to not lose touch with matter. We will learn to create, dream, fantasize, see beyond the farthest vision, but at the same time we will need to practically engage in the implementation of all this. Both signs are healers, only with Pisces we will have to heal the spirit, the wounds of the soul, the psyche more, but do not forget to nurture the body as well. It will be very important to find a connection with our intuition, strengthen it, trust it and be able to realize it, dare not hesitate.

Other Pisces themes that may be activated in one area or another: various psychological or esoteric practices aimed at understanding the subconscious or achieving a higher state of consciousness. Meditation, hypnosis, mysticism, telepathy. Charity, volunteerism, factors of compassion and altruism. Pharmacy, video, photography, music, art and creativity in general. Dreams, visions, "dictations", "scanning" of other dimensions. In a negative sense, these are illusions, naivety, fanaticism, addictions, victim syndrome, disappointment, instability, lies, anything related to toxicity.

September 18, 2024. The Full Moon in Pisces, along with the Lunar Eclipse, promises a sensitive period. Let's take care of handkerchiefs, warming tea, and cozy pillows. Let's not be afraid of feelings that will flow in streams or flood like an ocean. Let's take care of our emotional security and internal resources. Let's look at this period as an opportunity to see more clearly than ever how and for whom we live, whether we are satisfied, what we want to change, what to strengthen, what to give up? Let's see how much room there is for the Spirit in everyday life? What is our connection with our inner self, intuition, intuition, feelings? During this period, any uncomfortable question, more sensitive reaction, or more vivid situation is exactly the "field of work" that needs to be taken care of.

What if the Spirit is present in every daily breath and exhalation?
Is life itself then a spiritual practice?
