Yes, Mercury's retrograde motion begins again. Mercury is the fastest-moving planet in the Solar System. Since it moves much faster than Earth, we observe its retrograde motion three times a year, which lasts about three weeks. Other planets also move in retrograde motion, but Mercury's retrograde cycle is much more frequent compared to other planets (for example, Venus every one and a half years, Mars every two years).

Is the planet moving backwards?

Astronomically, the retrograde motion of Mercury (as well as that of other planets) is an optical illusion caused by the different orbital speeds of Earth and Mercury around the Sun. Retrograde motion, when a planet appears to be moving backwards in the sky from Earth's perspective, can be compared to a car overtaking another car on a highway. Imagine that you are in a car that is overtaking another car. To your eyes, the other car appears to be moving backwards, although it is also moving forward, only more slowly. Similarly, a retrograde planet does not start to rotate in reverse: it is an illusion caused by the change in perspective.

Confusion or opportunity?

Mercury's retrograde movement is often given a negative connotation. It is associated with disruptions in technology, errors in documents, late letters or couriers, missed meetings, delays, miscommunications or changes in plans.
