Full Moon and Eclipse in Virgo

Mist under the microscope and a reset before a new start

Does the Moon really bleed?

2026 March 3 will bring a full Moon accompanied by a total lunar eclipse. The eclipse will be visible in western North America (Alaska, Canada), eastern Asia (Russia), parts of Australia, and New Zealand. At the time of maximum eclipse (11:33), it will be daytime in Lithuania, so we will not be able to see it. However, modern technology allows us to witness celestial events even from a distance—for example, by watching live broadcasts www.timeanddate.com/live

A total lunar eclipse is often called a Blood Moon. Briefly submerged in the Earth's shadow, the Moon takes on a deep reddish hue. From an astrological point of view, such eclipses often rival even solar eclipses in their impact, especially in places where they are fully visible. The next total lunar eclipse will not occur until December 31, 2028, and it will also be visible in Lithuania.

With the March 3 eclipse, we close the first eclipse corridor of this year until the next eclipse period in August 2026.

Final preparations before getting into the new rocket

2026 March 3 The full moon takes place in Virgo near the South Lunar Node, and the ruling planet of this full moon, Mercury, is currently moving retrograde. This is a double signal to pause and review  things that should be let go of, released, given up, or finally finished.

This step of reflection, correction, or completion is inevitable before the “explosion” of new energy and fresh beginnings gathering in the second half of March. On March 19, the New Moon in Pisces (accompanied by the North Lunar Node, which indicates the direction of the soul’s evolution) will open up a new perspective of spiritual direction. On March 20, the Sun will move into the first sign of the Zodiac - Aries. This is the threshold of the spring equinox, the beginning of the astrological New Year, marking not only the awakening of nature and a surge of solar energy, but also a person’s inner enlightenment.

At the same time, Mercury will change direction and begin moving direct again, bringing a restart to various matters. In addition, from the spring equinox until the beginning of May, all the planets in the sky will be moving direct! This will be one of the most dynamic and productive periods of 2026, not only for starting various activities, but also for developing projects and implementing them effectively.

So during this Full Moon, let’s honestly sort out old unfinished business, lighten the baggage of our thoughts and emotions, and close the door on the past. Then, from the end of March, all that will be left is to fasten our seat belts and speed ahead at full pace in a clearer direction.

Karma correction “here and now”, every day, in every little detail

The full moons are not only the peak expression of the subconscious or emotional world, the height of creative potential, but also a clear moment of “release” or “allowing in,” when phenomena from the unperceived, “invisible” world rise to the conscious surface of reality. During full moons, we often adjust our choices and clarify our direction. Eclipses act like hundreds of full moons: they are always linked to an intensified karmic undertone and often accelerate various processes.

The main themes of the Lunar Eclipse in Virgo: correcting tendencies toward perfectionism, the desire to live “properly” and according to “shoulds,” and the inner critic. In astrology, Virgo is associated with order, analysis, daily duties, health, and service. This eclipse may bring a clear realization of where we are overly controlling, critical, or striving for perfection. Virgo energy highlights details, brings mistakes to the surface, and, as if under a microscope, reveals weak spots. This may be a period when work direction, daily routine, health habits, or even one’s attitude toward responsibility are adjusted. The eclipse invites us to distinguish what is truly useful from what has become excessive worry or a false sense of duty or service.

Eclipse Cycles

Eclipses along a particular axis are a recurring phenomenon. Previous eclipses along the Virgo-Pisces axis took place in 1987-1989, 2006-2008, and 2015-2017. Events from those periods had already begun to shape the backdrop of today’s situations. The current eclipse cycle along the Virgo-Pisces axis began in autumn 2024 and will continue until spring 2027. So it is worth recalling the experiences you had during those periods and recognizing current and future trends.

The Role of the Planetary Rulers: Mercury and Proserpina

The eclipse taking place in Virgo is linked to its ruling planets, Mercury (the planet of knowledge, information, and communication) and Proserpina (symbolising transformation and a systematic transition between layers of consciousness). At the moment, retrograde Mercury is moving through Pisces. The planet of logic does not feel very comfortable here, where everything is inexplicably intuitive and without any boundaries.  So the rational mind can be clouded by emotions, intuition, or informational chaos. However, by uniting with the voice of the heart and allowing intuition to speak, deep insights and brilliant, unconventional solutions are possible. Of course, due to Mercury's retrograde motion, these solutions will be more intended for review, correcting old mistakes, and reconsidering stalled communication or relationships. At this time, it would be better not to rush.

Proserpina is also moving retrograde through the sign of Scorpio. So we will descend into an even deeper layer of transformation: subconscious motives, issues of control, inner fears, or attachments. Let us not be surprised if our states or dreams take us to the “inner underworld,” where emotional complexes or taboos lie hidden. The changes brought by the lunar eclipse in Virgo may not be merely logical, understandable, or superficial, but deeply transformative to the very essence of perception.

How to make the most of the energies of this Lunar Eclipse in Virgo?

·     See the “eclipse” of ordinary everyday matters and undertake a “reset” (“re-set“) button.  It’s a good idea to review your routine, work methods, and workplace ergonomics,  the distribution of responsibilities, analyze where energy is being wasted and where a more practical and clearer order or system can be introduced.

·   Listen to your health and body signals, and follow psychosomatic connections. It is a good time to take an interest in nutrition, a healthy lifestyle, disease prevention, healthy sleep habits, and physical or emotional hygiene. It is favourable to prepare your plan for strengthening your well-being and health.

·  Let us pay attention to excessive nitpicking, perfectionism, self-criticism, or dissatisfaction with others. A constant "fix-it mode" often prevents us from seeing the full Divine plan. Excessive control can only lead to overwhelming fatigue from tension and emotional exhaustion.

·      Let’s consciously reflect on whom and how we serve. Do we act from inspiration and dedication? Or from guilt and a sense of duty? Or from “I have to,” rather than “I genuinely want to.” It is possible to help without self-sacrifice. Let us seek more mature ways of acting, sincere forms of help, and respect our own and others’ abilities and boundaries.

·   Let us unite the voices of the heart and mind, seeking dialogue between inner needs and practical ways of self-realization. Let us integrate intuition together with the gift of sharp analysis.
