New Moon in Sagittarius: What Do You See Beyond the Horizon?

Even if a miracle happened and we saw a clear night sky, we will not see the Moon these days... A few days before and after the new moon, the Earth is bathed at night in starlight. The Moon travels the sky these days together with our star, the Sun. But even it is a rare guest in our sight. In the darkest time of year, people on Earth are left to emit light and kindle warmth. We decorate with lights, brew teas, bake gingerbread, warm each other with meeting embraces. On the blackest night, darkness cannot overcome the sparks of love, the joy being created, and faith.

The new moon always marks a boundary: one cycle quietly closes, and another is born still unseen, but already felt within.Dec 20, 2025 at 3:43. The new moon occurs in the sign of Sagittarius. The symbol of the Fire element sign during this period reminds us of the unextinguished eternal Fire of the Spirit, of boundless faith that liberates truth. Just as in the night darkness we can clearly see the twinkle of infinite constellations, so deep inside we can recognize our own endless radiance, growth, constant transformation, and externally we can sense the potential of infinite options.

The new moon in Sagittarius is a suitable time to release the arrows of your dreams and desires toward a distant goal target. It's favorable to define why and where we are going, what our life philosophy is, and what our inner compass is truly based on. The Sagittarius sign is not inclined toward small tasks, tiny steps, or short-term wishes. On the contrary, it is interested in broad strokes, far-reaching directions of perspective, building visions, expanding horizons. Where do we want to be in a year, in a few years, or further, in five, ten... And what if the very best version happens “there”?

During this new moon, a concentration of several planets highlights Sagittarius themes. Mercury will encourage seeking the meaning of the “bigger picture,” broader thinking, a philosophical ideal. Venus will open the heart to freedom, truth, and authenticity, especially in relationships and value choices. The new moon's “conversation” with the planet Neptune will give more inspiration, enthusiasm, faith, and hope, but, unfortunately, also a fog of illusions and a tendency to escape from reality. Dreams, wishes, desires, and visions are important! but no less important is their material grounding and responsibility.

On the evening of the new moon day, the Black Moon (Lilith) moves into the sign of Sagittarius, raising deeper questions about blind faith, dogmas, imposed truths, and authorities that perhaps we have allowed to control our inner world for too long. The rebellious Lilith will prompt a turn toward inner truth and honest action.

So,the key of the new moon is truth. Not the kind that imprisons, blocks our potential, or separates us from our own authenticity or genuineness. The validity of such “truths” ended long ago. The archetypal Sagittarius Zodiac truth is the one that frees energy, empowers and carries through any obstacles.

The new moon's “axe”— pride. Better to be simply excellent...   And before acting, weigh the resources and possibilities you have, whether we haven't aimed too broadly.

The ruler of the sign Sagittarius — Jupiter — is the largest planet in the Solar System, so let us not reduce ourselves to dwarf size. Each of us is a gift to the world when we are our true size, in our shoes, in our sled, ourselves. Each such gift provides joy, love, warmth, and light to the eyes. Without excessive modesty and without arrogant pride, let us listen to the dreams of our soul. Perhaps there we will also find yet-unwrapped gifts?

P. S.The day after the new moon, December 21, we meet the winter solstice— an astronomical and symbolic point of the annual cycle when the day is shortest and the night longest. During the Sun's journey at the solstice it slows so much that  for a few days we see it returning to almost the same place in the sky. It appears to “stand still.” This is precisely where the term solstice (Latinsol— Sun,sistere— to stand) comes from, emphasizing the importance of this event.

From now on, pushing off from the lowest point, the Sun’s light will very slowly begin to “rise.” In many ancient traditions the solstices and equinoxes were regarded as gateways of the year, having a distinct energetic “lock.” These are moments when the cosmic rhythm freezes as if in a pause, only to gain momentum and a new direction later.

Astrologically, the winter solstice coincides with the Sun’s ingress into Capricorn, which is associated with maturity, responsibility, and long-term sustainable strategies. So during the Winter Solstice it is especially favorable to listen to the inner silence: now a clear intention and a clear structure for its implementation are born here. It is no coincidence that this moment is considered one of the most important landmarks for the coming year, assessing the path taken and defining the framework of the next cycle.

On a spiritual level the winter solstice is a symbol of transformation and the renewal of inner fire. It is a sacred threshold when one naturally wants to withdraw from external noise, slow down, be in silence or among close ones. Through prayer, conscious focus, or ritual rites, a person’s connection to cosmic order, to the cyclicality of time and its deeper meaning is strengthened. In this pause a sacred event takes place — the birth of light in darkness.

Therefore this weekend has an exceptional and multilayered “lock”: the new moon opens a new lunar cycle, and the winter solstice — a new stage of the Sun’s path. This is a rare “combination” and an opportunity to consciously renew and choose direction. A true celebration of the light of consciousness in the darkest time of the year.
